Milestones posting late 2006

Little Eva is talking more and more everyday and with complete sentences at that. Here are a few of my favorites:

  • "Mommy, where are we?"
  • Can I Mommy....Pleeese."
  • "I want BBQ and Mickey Mouse for my birthday." Ever since her big sister's birthday party she has been obsessed with birthday parties. Let see if by November the girl still wants BBQ and Mickey Mouse.
My Ella turned seven back in April and the girl wanted a messy party. What's a messy party you ask? Well it's where you play messy games such as bobbing for powdered doughnuts, pop balloons that have flour inside of them, and dive for gummy worms that have been covered by whipped cream at the bottom of the pie tin. We invited all the cousins and two class mates over and they had a blast. The fun didn't stop there. Cousins and the one school mate stayed over for a slumber party.......I was exhausted the next day and received kudos from the other adults for attempting such a thing. Next year we are doing family only : )

Charleston, SC
It's hard to believe that 10 years have gone by so fast. I love my husband and couldn't imagine my life without him. We make a great team and keeps me laughing. To celebrate we took four days away from the kids and went to Charleston SC. It was awesome. It seems like we beat the heat of VA and enjoyed every minute. We can't wait to go back again. It is a great town with phenomenal food and drink. We were impressed.

How I knew

How did I know that my husband was the one for me? I sometimes have a hard time explaining this, but for me it cam down to having a sense that I was going to be alright in my life. Being with Chris gave me confidence. I cam across this quote that sums up how I knew he was the one for me.   “Someday you’ll find the right person, and you’ll learn to have a lot more confidence in yourself. That’s what I think. So don’t settle for anything less. In this world, there are things you can only do alone, and things you can only do with somebody else. It’s important to combine the two in just the right amount.” -  Haruki Murakami

Morning thoughts

I love them Spring is coming, so they say. Yesterday after school we were able to enjoy the creek and playground till it was dinner time. The joys of being able to make the day pass while being outdoors. I can't wait. This morning Eva got a little outdoor time before the rain came,  and Ella hummed along to some Neill Young. Then puzzle mania ensued. I was reading this blog, Manger  and she wrote the following: "While our kids are still small, our lives young, our dogs so splendid, our journey is just beginning!" It reminded me so much of my husband because whenever I say "Things are great."  He always chimes in that the best is still yet to come. I wonder what's to come?

Lazy Fall Days

This weekend the girls and I had a great weekend. It was a beautiful fall day in Virginia. We ventured out to the pumpkin patch near the house with cousin Veia and had a great time sliding down the slides and picking out our pumpkins. I knew I wanted to do something outdoorsy with the girls on Sunday but I couldn't decide between visiting an apple orchard, hiking the Shenandoah or checking out Frying Pan Park. Ultimately, I decided to pull out Ella's bike out while Eva was sleeping and to my delight she finally discovered the joys of riding a bike. She was on it all day, it was great. We decided to talk a walk in our own backyard. We have a great park system with wonderful trails. I'm so glad I decided to not get in my car. Ella got on her Skut and I put Eva in the backpack and we walked to an open field, I pulled chocolate chip cookies and that's when Ella asked me if I wanted to daydream with her. Which meant looking at the...
