Just random thoughts I have brought on my Anthony Bourdain's passing.
Bourdain had lost his battle with mental illness and committed suicide. About two months ago, I was informed that a former student also lost her battle to depression. One was a celebrity and the other not, but both deaths equally sad for their own reason.
I think with Bourdain the sadness is in that he had a view of the world and he used food as a means to discuss and make you think not only about your relationship with food but most importantly the relationship with the people involved in the food. Now those moments of sharing are gone.
My student was a young lady as her parents strongly stated, " Was never embarrassed by her situation and didn't use it as an excuse, but she certainly had it hard and if anything living for as long as she did shows us how truly strong she was." Her parents allowed her to to be the one to live her life and again I am paraphrasing " Her life was hers and she had a right to tell her own story."
A journalist poignantly stated, " The armour failed him from the cruelest force, the enemy within."

- Buddhism views that everything in the world is interconnected. When Buddha gained enlightenment, it was the realization that interconnectedness is the true nature of all beings.
- Is it morbid to think that if I am left alone that the music will be there to be my companion?
