Time flys

It's already December and so much has happened. Our sweet Eva turned two, and enjoyed her first Halloween. Eva was Otto the Orange and Eva was Pocahontas. Eva caught on fast to the whole trick or treat thing. She learned how to say Trick or Treat and Thank you.
We started some holiday craft making traditions that I look forward to doing with the girls. The first one was at Halloween we decorated the window w/ paper skulls and spiders that we made ourselves. The second was at Thanksgiving where we made these little turkeys and thought of things we were thankful for. We haven't gotten one started for Christmas but we did happen to get our first little tree and we are all very pleased with it. Oh, and I made an apple pie over break and it was GREAT! I was so surprised and I'm pretty sure except for a few pieces here and there I ate the whole thing. Going to make another one soon.
Chris and I were very fortunate to have gone to Mexico for a friend's wedding. We only stayed for two days but it was lovely and I just reminded myself how lucky we were.As I always say to the girls, "Something is better than nothing."

Ella's milestone: losing more teeth, mastered cartwheels, and knows four songs on her violin and not using tape marks(very proud).
Eva's milestone: "Where momma/dada go?" Saying Thank you without being prompted. Is very enthusiastic and clear with her hello and good-bye. Still is going on and on with the gibberish but is starting to say more phrases each week.

We are thankful for so many reasons

How I knew

How did I know that my husband was the one for me? I sometimes have a hard time explaining this, but for me it cam down to having a sense that I was going to be alright in my life. Being with Chris gave me confidence. I cam across this quote that sums up how I knew he was the one for me.   “Someday you’ll find the right person, and you’ll learn to have a lot more confidence in yourself. That’s what I think. So don’t settle for anything less. In this world, there are things you can only do alone, and things you can only do with somebody else. It’s important to combine the two in just the right amount.” -  Haruki Murakami

Morning thoughts

I love them Spring is coming, so they say. Yesterday after school we were able to enjoy the creek and playground till it was dinner time. The joys of being able to make the day pass while being outdoors. I can't wait. This morning Eva got a little outdoor time before the rain came,  and Ella hummed along to some Neill Young. Then puzzle mania ensued. I was reading this blog, Manger  and she wrote the following: "While our kids are still small, our lives young, our dogs so splendid, our journey is just beginning!" It reminded me so much of my husband because whenever I say "Things are great."  He always chimes in that the best is still yet to come. I wonder what's to come?

Lazy Fall Days

This weekend the girls and I had a great weekend. It was a beautiful fall day in Virginia. We ventured out to the pumpkin patch near the house with cousin Veia and had a great time sliding down the slides and picking out our pumpkins. I knew I wanted to do something outdoorsy with the girls on Sunday but I couldn't decide between visiting an apple orchard, hiking the Shenandoah or checking out Frying Pan Park. Ultimately, I decided to pull out Ella's bike out while Eva was sleeping and to my delight she finally discovered the joys of riding a bike. She was on it all day, it was great. We decided to talk a walk in our own backyard. We have a great park system with wonderful trails. I'm so glad I decided to not get in my car. Ella got on her Skut and I put Eva in the backpack and we walked to an open field, I pulled chocolate chip cookies and that's when Ella asked me if I wanted to daydream with her. Which meant looking at the...
